Global Forest Solutions is the 4th generation fourth generation of a family business timber.

135 years ago (end of s. Century), the "grandfather" began sawing boards in forest manually. Here began the history of our company, which has continued to evolve since then.

From these tables manually cut, gave way to the water-powered sawmill, and a few years later, the mill moved by steam boiler..

In the late 50s reaches the Galician rural electricity. This allows us to move our sawmill by electricity, which will mark a before and after in the history and evolution of our company..

We installed the first chipper to produce chips destined for pulp mills and board plants, the first of the country as such chipping plant.

In 1974 Lavacolla installed near Santiago de Compostela, the first chipping plant of the Iberian Peninsula designed to produce eucalyptus chips with bark and without bark, and the first energy chips.

In 1978 he installed a second chip plant in North Ferrol.

1979 is an important year for the company. This year will be the first export shipment of eucalyptus chips without bark from Cariño´s Port to France.

In the early years of the 80s, we started t  export hard pine and eucalyptus to Scandinavia. At the end of the decade, the productions are needed in Spain.

Parallel to these developments as they happen productive logistics developments relevant to perform these exports, design and construction of chip load terminals, development of more appropriate and efficient conveyors, "grabs" for higher volume cranes, etc..

In 1982 we set up in Portugal as technical advisors, brokers and traders, operating in the ports of Viana do Castelo, Aveiro, Setúbal and Sines.

Earlier this decade we participated in the first pine chips imported from South America (Brazil), carried in the first "chip carrier" came to the Iberian Peninsula. Our company was present throughout the operation, from the beginning until the chips went into the factory in Viana do Castelo (known as "Portucel").
